Easy Pillow Combinations and Curated Pillow Collections

The Art of Mixing and Matching: How Amazon’s Woven Nook and Laurel & Blush Make It Easy

As someone who has spent countless hours wandering the aisles of HomeGoods, searching for the perfect pillow combinations to elevate my living room and bedroom, I can tell you that finding the right mix of colors and patterns can be a daunting task. After many trips and a few mismatched purchases, I discovered the effortless charm of Amazon’s Woven Nook and Laurel & Blush collections. These brands have taken the guesswork out of creating stunning, cohesive pillow arrangements that can transform any space into a stylish sanctuary. I’ll share them with you below, with links to my favorite combinations.

All available through Laurel & Blush: Shopping made easy :)

Let’s start with the basics: How many pillows and what sizes?

When it comes to styling your beds, couches, sectionals, and chairs, the right combination of pillows can elevate your space dramatically. For beds, a standard setup often includes two to three larger decorative pillows paired with smaller accent pillows for a layered look. On couches, a mix of three to five pillows in varying sizes—such as a couple of square pillows, a lumbar pillow, and a round one—creates visual interest and comfort. Sectionals benefit from an asymmetrical arrangement, utilizing different shapes and sizes to fill in gaps and invite relaxation. Finally, accent chairs shine with one or two carefully chosen pillows that complement the overall decor while providing a cozy touch. Mixing and matching these combinations not only enhances aesthetics but also allows for a personalized touch that reflects your style.

Laurel & Blush has a great sizing guide, which I compiled for you below:

Simplifying Style with Pre-Made Combinations

I came across two brands that I absolutely love as my go-to for making styling patterns easy. One of the most appealing aspects of Woven Nook and Laurel & Blush is their thoughtfully curated pillow combinations. Gone are the days of second-guessing which patterns clash or which colors complement each other. These brands provide a variety of options that work harmoniously together, making it incredibly easy to update your decor without the stress of trial and error. Whether you’re after a classic aesthetic or a more bohemian vibe, these combinations cater to every style preference, allowing you to refresh your space in minutes.

The Perfect Inserts for a Polished Look

While the right covers are essential, the inserts you choose can make all the difference in achieving that coveted designer look. My personal favorite is down inserts, and here’s why: they offer the plush, luxurious feel that makes any pillow inviting while also allowing for the perfect “pillow chop.” This technique, where you create a slight indent at the center of the pillow, adds an effortless touch of elegance to your arrangements.

Using different shapes and sizes of pillows is another trick to create a layered, dynamic look. A combination of squares, rectangles, and even circular pillows can add depth and interest to your space. With Woven Nook and Laurel and Blush, you can easily mix and match these various shapes to achieve a curated yet comfortable atmosphere.

My Favorite Inserts and Combinations:

Now that you know the secret to effortless styling, here are some examples of my favorite inserts and combinations available (click on the photos below):

1. **Classic Down Inserts**:

These are the bread and butter of any pillow arrangement. They provide the right amount of fluff and support, perfect for both lounging and decorative purposes. That classic “pillow-chop” can’t be achieved with cotton filled inserts. While Ikea offers the cheapest and best down inserts- they won’t ship them to your home (they’re called the FJADRAR at $7 a pop) . Here are some links to ones I’ve found on the internet. If you prefer down alternative inserts, I included some here as well:

DOWN: Amazon offers a wide range of sizes and they come in 2 + 4 packs (look out for the coupons)

Down Alternative: Also in a variety of sizes and packs, these are a steal. Note: I can’t vouch for the pillow chop since it’s an alternative.

2. **Variety Packs**:

Consider investing in a variety pack of curated patterns and colors already put together for you by Woven Nook and Laurel & Blush.

Why I love Woven Nook: Price-point!

Most of these fall in the $50-60 range for 4 covers (buy inserts separately!).

Why I love Laurel & Blush: They offer different sizing combinations and their covers offer a combination of different textures:

Honestly- if you’ve ever struggled to mix and match patterns, textures, and colors, they have so many combos to choose from and take the guesswork out of figuring that out. (Most are $150-170 range- choose from one-sided, two-sided, with inserts or without inserts.) Click on the images below to be brought to them:

They even offer 5 pillow combos!

And there you have- shopping & decorating made easy :) As always, thanks for stopping by, reading, commenting and sharing! <3 Barbra
