Arhaus Kipton Sectional: My Review

Arhaus Kipton Sectional: My Review

Full disclosure… I get nothing from this post on this sectional. I don’t have a following of a million people… I can’t offer you a free couch giveaway or even a coupon code. I’m just so damn happy with the purchase of this couch and I scoured the internet for an honest review on this couch given it’s price before deciding to pull the plug and was coming up short. I found a short YouTube video of some guy reviewing the couch and Arhaus’s website is severely lacking in the review department (Side note: how come they don’t allow reviews on the site, I’m sure others would fill the reviews with how happy they are with this couch as well?)

So here she is in her full glory:

And this post is the backstory on how it came to be in my house- the reasons why I was interested in this couch to begin with- and 5 months in why I feel like this was one of the top 5 home decor purchases so far in my life (yes I feel that strongly).

Where did I first see this couch advertised?

On instagram- a bunch of decor gals with huge following kept posting about this couch and all the benefits of the Crypton fabric. I was having a hard time determining whether they truly loved it- or if they were being paid for ads and being given free couches which made them love it. However, the Crypton fabric and it’s durability and stain repellent fabric had me keenly interested. I love having a light toned couch- my previous couch was a special order purchase from Bassett where I chose the fabric- got us through 8 years, before we took the plunge and welcomed Benny our golden doodle in our lives. I said a million times- I’d never let him on my couch, but the first time he got up on the couch, he looked so darn cute and I was smitten. So did I buy a new couch specifically for my dog? Absolutely. It’s his world now, I’m just living in it.

And who could say no to this face?

What does it retail for?

The exact configuration I got retails for over a $8K before tax and delivery… and there was way I was willing to spend 8K on a couch… and I didn’t…. because it’s against my morals. Turns out, I got it for less than 1/2 that. Once a year Arhaus has a friends and family sale around the month of November- where they offer their couches for almost half the price. I found this out towards the end of the sale- but didn’t feel comfortable ordering the couch without seeing the fabric in person. Unfortunately the store was closed because of COVID. When it opened back up the sale was over- so I called Arhaus through the website to ask if they would honor the sale- they said they could not. About 2 months later I found myself in Bergen County, NJ with a girlfriend about an hour from my home- so I decided to stop in the store and see the color choices the Crypton fabric offered in person- there are 6 available. I happened to spark up a conversation with someone in the store over his blouse- that unbeknownst to me at first worked there. I told him I’d be interested in ordering the couch next November- and when he asked why I explained the sale I had just missed. He said “well here’s my number if you changed my mind- reach out to me if you’re interested in getting a price, you’d be surprised what we can work on the back end.” When I reached out to him I was shocked by the price I was given- even better than the sale. I ordered right over the phone. He also recommended I open an Arhaus card because I’d earn $300 in rewards dollars from the purchase, and despite having the money to pay for it in full- I did. It was 0% interest for up to 12 months, I paid it off that month- and was able to get 2 vases, a candle, and the tray that you see in my pictures above. (If you’re local to Bergen County/ lower NY, reach out to me and I can pass along his info!)

Why was I in the market for a new couch?

  1. Stains: My previous couch from Bassett had fabric that was terrible for stains. Nothing came out of it. I was super careful around the couch, but even if water got on it, water stains would show. I didn’t want to have to worry about Benny jumping up on it- so I needed a more durable fabric.

  2. Comfortability- is that a word? I felt like our previous couch was not that comfortable. I always felt like I was sitting on the edge of it, so I wanted deeper cushions. In addition, our previous couch had individual smaller cushions for each part of the sectional, and I always felt like I was falling in between them. I wanted longer cushions.

  3. Size- I was limited to which sectionals would fit in my living room, because my one wall where the stained shiplap is was coming up about 10 inches too short for most sections. The Kipton Corner Sectional fit the bill.

What did I end up ordering?

The Kipton Corner Sectional, Right Arm Facing, 44” Deep option (a Petite version is available at 40” deep), in the Crypton Nomad Snow fabric color. I also ordered a $25 cleaning kit specifically meant for the Crypton fabric.

How long did it take to get here?

16 weeks from order- it takes less if you get it in the stock fabric choice, however it’s not a Crypton Fabric, which was the soul reason I was interested in the couch to begin with.

And now for my honest review. Am I happy with the purchase?

Hands Down: Yes.

Three Reasons I’m in Love With the Kipton Sectional-

  1. It’s so freaking comfortable. These deep cushions are everything. I no longer feel like I’m sitting on the edge of my couch. You sink right in- but the cushions don’t deflate or need to be fluffed up. I honestly hardly sit still long enough to watch TV, but I find myself making it a point to sit and relax on this couch every morning and evening. In fact, we went away on vacation for a week and I literally said to my husband: “I miss my couch”. I just couldn’t wait to come home and relax on it.

  2. The fabric does just as it says it would with the cleaning kit. Benny maybe goes on our couch once a day for a few minutes- and there have been a few stains from his paws. They’ve come right out with the kit. In fact last week he ran full speed onto the couch to greet my husband after I had walked him out in the rain- not giving me time to even wipe his paws. 16 muddy foot prints all over one cushion. I was thinking- ohhh no this is it. They came right out with the stain remover. (I’ll talk about the steps at the bottom of this post.) So to me, if you have kids or pets and a dream of a white couch- this is the couch for you.

  3. The cushions are all interchangeable. On some sectional couches, certain cushions can only be moved around in certain areas- for example the corner cushion on my last couch couldn’t be move anywhere else because it was larger than the other cushions. Every cushion on this couch is the exact same size- making it easier to move around and swap if you wanted to.

How do I go about spot cleaning it?

I purchased the $25 Crypton Fabric cleaning kit, and Michael who I bought the couch from also threw in a free one for me.

I followed the instructions on the back and since I’ve done this many times I have it down to a science

Step 1: Spray the spot with the cleaner and let it sit for 2-5 minutes.

Step 2: Take the bristle brush and brush over the spot in a circular motion until you see the stain disappear

Step 3: Blot the spot with a white paper towel or a light colored cloth

Step 4: Wet the paper towel or light colored cloth a little bit with tap water, and blot the spot again

Step 5: Blot the spot again with a dry white paper towel or light colored cloth.

Wait for it to dry… and gone :)
