4 Reasons why the Harmony Couch from West Elm is my New Favorite
Discover Comfort and Style with the Harmony Couch from West Elm
Funny thing about alot of these big companies like Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Arhaus… they surprisingly (or maybe purposely) don’t allow reviews of their furniture on their site. To me- I want to be confident when I’m spending a good amount of change on what I would hope would be quality furniture, and the lack of reviews certainly doesn’t help.
A while back I posted about our Arhaus Kipton Sectional with the Crypton Fabric. Still love this couch, and this fabric was key to my comfort with having a dog that we allow on our furniture, with the protection of a fabric that boasted to be virtually indestructible. I still love this couch- it’s still in amazing condition after 4 years, but the price point has certainly double since I ordered it back in 2020.
So when it came time to redecorate our front room, I fell in love with the Harmony couch by West Elm. And to my pleasant surprise- the fabric I chose: Distressed Velvet (specifically Sand), has also been surprisingly stain-resistant. Price point wise this is a much better bang for your buck, and I loved this couch so much- I’ve purchased it 5 times over: a chair and ottoman for our bedroom, and 4 for clients and friends. If I had found this couch prior to the Arhaus Kipton, I might have purchased this one instead. (If you know me personally reach out and I can extend my trade discount to you.
Extra Deep Version
When it comes to creating a cozy yet stylish living space, the right furniture makes all the difference. The Harmony couch from West Elm is a perfect blend of comfort, versatility, and chic design, making it an ideal choice for any home. With an impressive array of options, including chairs, ottomans, sofas, sectionals, and modular components, the Harmony collection caters to diverse tastes and living styles. So I’ll break down what I love about it in this post, along with photos of couches on my own projects and links below:
Pro 1: Endless Customization Options
One of the standout features of the Harmony couch is its extensive selection of over 100 available fabrics. Whether you prefer a classic look or something more modern, there’s a fabric to suit your aesthetic. The collection also offers numerous sizes and depths, allowing you to find the perfect fit for your space. Whether you’re looking for a cozy two-seater, a spacious sectional, or an inviting chair with an ottoman, the Harmony collection has you covered. You can order swatches to be sent to your home or visit your local West Elm to see the fabric in person.
In addition to fabric choices, you can select from two different leg colors, enabling you to customize your couch even further. This attention to detail ensures that your Harmony couch not only fits your style but also complements your existing decor. I’ve chosen the dark walnut on all of my projects.
Pro 2: Fabrics Galore- My Favorite: Distressed Velvet
Among the many fabric options, my personal favorite is the distressed velvet. This fabric not only exudes luxury but also boasts practical benefits. One of the best features of distressed velvet is how easy it is to maintain; spills and stains seem to wipe right off, making it a practical choice for family homes or those who entertain frequently. With five variations of the Harmony couch already in my collection, I can confidently say that the distressed velvet has stood the test of time while remaining stylish and functional. Note: originally on the website the Dune color appeared to fit the beige tones I was looking for in this couch- upon visit to my local West Elm, I was surprised to see that Dune was not beige at all- but grey. Sand has been my go-to neutral fabric choice.
Pro 3: Versatile Additions: Sectionals, Sofas, and More
The Harmony collection offers a range of configurations to suit any room. The sectional is perfect for those who want to make a statement in their living area. I’ll be purchasing the modular version for a vacation home- and built our living room plans around the measurements provided on the West Elm site when you “build your own”. It provides ample seating for family and friends, creating an inviting atmosphere for gatherings. The sofa option offers a more traditional look, while the chairs and ottomans provide flexibility and additional seating when needed.
Pictured in my personal photos on this post are the sectional, sofa, and chair with ottoman from the Harmony collection, showcasing how these pieces can come together to create a harmonious living space. Each piece complements the others beautifully, allowing you to mix and match to achieve your desired look.
Pro 4: Sooo comfortable + multiple depth options
I purchased the extra deep version for my sofa in my living room- and I have to say, it’s like the size of a twin bed. It’s absolutely the most comfortable couch I’ve ever sat on. You just melt right in to it. (I wouldn’t recommend the extra deep version if you have mobility issues getting up and down, they offer two other depths, standard and 41” for those who don’t need as deep of a sofa)
Here’s just some of the many options offered:
In Conclusion
The Harmony couch from West Elm is more than just a piece of furniture; it’s a customizable solution to creating a beautiful and functional living space. With endless fabric options, various sizes, and versatile components, you can design a layout that fits your lifestyle perfectly. Whether you’re curling up with a book or hosting a gathering, the Harmony collection provides the comfort and style you need to make your home truly inviting. It continues to be my favorite couch to recommend (even over the Arhaus Kiption Sectional.
