Reasonably Priced Velvet Curtains+ Blinds

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted on here…

Life has been busy and I haven’t had much free time to dedicate to this blog. But I do appreciate the 230K of you that still came on here last year, and the whopping 17K who have visited this blog in the last 20 days, despite my lack of posts in over 18 months.

Thank you to those who still use this as a resource or who are finding it via Pinterest.

My plan moving forward if you plan on staying tuned is to post on topics that I get questions on often via Instagram.

So coming down the pike for posts are:

Bar Stools + My New Favorite Rugs in My Home + Details on our Master Bathroom Renovation + Details on our “Dog Room” + My Master Bedroom Fireplace Insert Plans

Why Velvet Curtains ?

This past summer I wanted to upgrade the 96” curtains in my master bedroom for a “richer” more “luxurious” look and velvet curtains fit the bill. And while I only use curtains for the “look”: meaning I don’t ever close them (I use blinds for that), I’ve heard great things about them keeping out the cold in the winter months.

When we first moved in to our home 10 years ago- I made the mistake of hanging most of the curtains in our home (with 8"‘ ceilings) at the 84” mark just above our windows. Overtime I came to appreciate the look of hanging them higher above the window, as it gave the appearance of having a taller ceilings. So when switching out the curtains in our master bedroom- I decided to move the rods up.

Option 2 shown here in Silver Grey

96” curtains with a simple rod are definitely the way to go if your most of the rooms in your home have 8’ ceilings.

The Top 2 Places to get Reasonably Priced Velvet Curtains

Spot 1: Marshalls and TJMaxx online- Brands to Search for: Rodeo Home + Rachel Zoe, Price point: $24.99-39.99 for a set of 2 panels

I’ve gotten very lucky on TJMAXX and Marshalls.com. In fact all of the curtains pictured in my master bedroom are from there- for just $24.99 for a set of two. The only downside to this option, is you have to check and search often for “Velvet Curtains” in the search bar since they don’t always offer many color options as the second place I’ll provide next. (Click on the photos below to be brought to these websites)

Spot 2: Amazon!! Price Point: $49.99- 59.99 for a set of 2 panels with coupon options often available.

The pros of this option, although more expensive than option 1, is that they offer over 25 colors and sizes. If you don’t like a color- it’s an easy return process with amazon. The panel it self gives you the option of putting it through the loops on the back or the rod pocket option (whereas my master bedroom ones from Tjmaxx only offer the rod pocket option). Lastly- they offer coupon deals. In my office, they were offering 30% off one set upon checkout (so of course I did three individual check-outs to get 30% on each pair…. lol). And a third spot…

Spot 3: The “If you got money to burn” option. Because some people are willing to spend whatever on drapery. West Elm + Pottery Barn.

I really wanted these- but needing 6 panels in each room, even with my trade discount, I just couldn’t see spending over $150 per panel. But for some, money isn’t an option so if you can afford this option- more power to you :) I absolutely love the look of worn velvet:

While the worn velvet option has 6 color and 2 size options, they offer many other velvet options on the site as well:

Custom Blinds: A reasonably priced option

And lastly- I scoured the internet around Black Friday for the best deal possible on custom blinds. My normal go-to was Selectblinds.com, and the prices of blinds on this site and more were coming in at over $600 for three windows with all the Black Friday coupons. That’s when I stumbled upon this more affordable option. They were extremely easy to hang and mine came out to $112 a window when I placed three separate orders to get the coupon applied each time:
